The A. S. Popov Central Museum of Communications - one of the oldest museums of science and technology in the world – collects and studies exhibits on the history of development of communication facilities and telecommunications. The museum is located in St.-Petersburg (Russia).
The Museum was founded in 1872, but was completely restored and opened for visitors in May 2003.
The Museum is situated in the palace designed by Giacomo Quarenghi in the last quarter of the 18th century for the Post Director Grand Duke Alexander A. Bezborodko.
The museum houses historical technical and communication exhibits, State Collection of Marks of Postal Payment and art-innovations of modern artists. The “Treasury of Marks of Postal Payment” is also opened for visitors. The most modern technological ideas are used in the museum’s interactive exposition.
